off the air

oooohhh… i am fat with holiday food

Wed. December 27, 2006

and my sinuses are packed with sweets. I rode in to work today, and boy did it feel awkward. I haven’t touched a bike since my race at nationals which is about a week and a half ago. That and I’ve been eating tons of holiday cheer in the form of cookies and other butter infused items. It was almost as if I could feel the sludge being extruded out of me with every pedal stroke. How’s that for a description. No I didn’t have to check my shorts for that kind of extrusion. I think i’m going to try and be a little more active now. Feeling like a doughy food eatbeefloaf just isn’t that fun. More water, less beer and rum-nog.

I’m gonna try and get LT out on a night ride in lincoln woods one of these days. First I need to see if my circa 1996 night sun team issue still works. It’s sweet, the battery is huge and shaped like a water bottle. Totally old school. None of this Digital HID crap. I’m gonna melt a candle onto my helmet for some added side to side cornering vision.

the itch

Fri. December 22, 2006

So I haven’t touched my bike all week. It’s been great. I’ve been making myself drive to work just because I want to go a solid week without riding. To recharge my batteries. It’s working because I am getting the itch to ride my mtb now. LT is all fired up as well. We’ll most likely be doing a mess of fun riding over the winter months.

I’m starting to get psyched for the 2007 mountain bike season. It’s hard to plan your schedule though when most of the races aren’t posted yet. Plattekill and Hunter Mountian are two on the must do list. No idea when the races are going to be yet but I’m keeping my eyes peeled. The course at hunter rocks because they incorporate trails like these into the XC race.

I’m working on the new 2007 bikeman.com team clothes so hopefully we can have them all done and in stock before the season opens. We’re going full deal with champion system this season so that will be nice.

Zach M. took some good shots at CX nats, go check them out here.

That’s all I have for now. More on the “Selling of the Snake” saga later on. Nice long holiday weekend on tap.

This thing we call not riding a bike

Wed. December 20, 2006

So I’m not touching a bike all week. That is my goal. It’s actually pretty easy to do. This time of year it’s nice not to have to go home from work and skip dinner with the family because I have to ride the trainer once I get the kids to bed. Ahhhh…

If anyone is wondering how nationals went for me you can now check out the report up on the bikeman site.

Since I’m not going to be racing cross for a few years (at least) I’m pretty sure the JTS is going to go on the block. If anyone needs a sweet ass cross racing rig, let me know. It’s a 54cm and the thing is light as stink with the tubbies on. I’ll put up a link to the ebay auction soon unless someone makes me an offer I can’t refuse. Let me know in the comments if you want specs etc.

Sad. I really hate to get rid of it but bike parts don’t buy themselves. Like putting a child up for adoption. argh…

Season’s end and CX Nats wrap up

Mon. December 18, 2006

Well folks, that it. 2006 is on the books and now It’s time to be lazy for a while. I have too many stories from this weekend to write down so for now, here are some mediocre images from the big dance…

Chuck and LT

actual report on what happened later on. Time to get some work done.

On the eve of nats

Thu. December 14, 2006

Went over and pre rode the track today with LT when it opened for inspection at 2pm. Did a bunch of laps. It was crazy warm. I was riding around behind Ned (the living legend) Overend for a few. Pretty cool seeing riders like that riding around in your local park. I race tomorrow at 3pm. Pretty odd feeling knowing that 24 hrs from now I’ll be done with racing cyclo-cross for who knows how many years. Hopefully I won’t go out like a fart in the pot.
